Discussion:
Putting It On The Web

I am in the last phases of putting together a website as an efficient
means to reach out to parties that might potentially be interested in
one or more aspects of the project and get it moving forward.

The website structure is pretty basic without any mechanisms to
register or keep track of the viewers, but I will put up my email
address as contact info. A more advanced ASP version of the website
with the same content is in the plans but it will be a little while
before I can get to that.

I have filed all the necessary paper work at the patent office, but
just to be on the safe side, I thought that I'd check to see if there
are any precautions that I need to take at this point. I would
appreciate any thoughts, advice or comments from the NG participants as
always. Your invaluable advice has been greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance ...

What kind of precautions? The best precautions that I know of
are to wash your hands after using the bathroom, wash your
utinsels after handling raw meat, and use a condom.

Do's and don'ts about what? You keep dancing around the
question, and the rest of us have no clue what you are
asking. I hope you didn't write up your invention this
way--the patent office will never know what it does. In
the mean time, do share with others, don't run red stop
lights, and do smile as much as you can.

A web site is cheap but it is NOT "efficient." How will you drive traffic to
the web site? That marketing/brochure/letter/whatever better be pretty damn
good then the web site better really deliver. Do what you can to build
trackability into every thing you do to push the web site.

Holler if you'd like help making the e-mail available to site viewers but
generally invisible to spambots harvesting addresses. (This will be paid
consulting work, typical max is $100. See any sig link to get to real e-mail
access.)

Good point. I failed to explain that the primary purpose of the
website is to provide a means of access to the demonstration of the
application of the invention to the target parties, but not to charge a
fee for content or sell advertising. I will look into the trackability
issues as you suggested.

I was saying "efficient" in the sense that a web link is easier to send
to someone than paper or digital copies, and besides the the content is
always up to date.

Thank you for your advice ...

You've "filed all the necessary paper work at the patent office..."
What paper work?

You wrote that the "website structure is pretty basic..." Did you
invent something?

Did you file a patent application?

Sorry, I left out some details. I came up with an idea and had filed
some regular and provisional patent applicaitons. The website is to
demonstrate to other parties the range and type of applications of the
idea or the invention.

Thanks ...
